Cherry Blossoms or Snow?

Early one morning—

A walk to the River.
Waves capping—
a spring breeze.

The dome above,
sky-blue perfection.

Still no breeze
where I place footsteps.

Village streets
lined with cherry blossoms,
or,
is it snow?

Does it matter?

Gently burdened tree limbs,
do not blush in modesty.

They are shameless in beauty.

One block from the River,
the breeze is no longer breeze.

Ah, yes— wind!

Cherry blossoms fall—
a shower.
Petals rustle sideways on the street,
whirl like dervishes, too.

A waterfall of beauty rests
on my hair and clothes.

I laugh. Time defers.
This is joy.

I twirl round and round,
arms reaching up, head back.

I am nine years old again.

The sun smiles,
dazzling the blue River
with diamonds
bouncing on waves.

In these moments,
only one witness.

I laughed all the way home.

Thank you, thank you.
